To find out more about each of the areas of law that we cover, just click the titles to the left.
Broadly speaking, this area of law deals with what happens to a person’s property after their death, and the many ways in which you can prepare your own affairs ahead of time. Of course, it’s far more complicated than that, but our skilled and experienced staff make wills and probate as straightforward as it can be.
Your will specifies what you want to happen to your estate (your possessions) when you die. You may wish to appoint a trusted relative or friend as your executor: this person will be responsible for carrying out your wishes in accordance with your will.
As part of your will, you may wish to set up legacies, whereby a specific part of your property – a treasured possession, for example – is left directly to somebody rather than being classed as part of your estate. If you have a larger estate, you might want to set up a discretionary trust in order to avoid inheritance tax issues.
In the event that a deceased person has no immediate family, we trace the family tree as far back as necessary in order to locate their nearest relatives and give them anything that is legally theirs. Indeed, our wills and probate service is a comprehensive one, covering all eventualities and helping you to prepare for what lies ahead.
